About HAEYC
Hartford Association for the Education of Young Children

The expressed purpose for the Hartford Association for the Education of Young Children is to serve and act on behalf of the needs and rights of young children with primary focus on the provision of educational services and resources to adults who work with and for young children.

HAEYC members are individuals who share a common interest to ensure meaningful early care and education experiences for the children and families of the Greater Hartford region of Connecticut and beyond. The HAEYC membership base is composed of early care and education providers, parents, families, early childhood education advocates, and citizens within and outside the state of Connecticut interested in issues and information associated with early childhood education.

HAEYC membership benefits early care and education providers and families alike by providing opportunities for personal and professional growth. Workshops and special guest presenters (including child development specialists, recording artists, music composers, lyricists, authors of children's literature and policy experts) stimulate and challenge members through the discussion of current childcare issues and educational theory. Workshops also enable members to visit different childcare settings, meet new colleagues in the field, see new practices in action, and idea-share.

Annually HAEYC sponsors special program events such as the Bus Tour to Nationally Accredited Centers, HAEYC Golf Tournament, and the Week of the Young Child (WOYC). The WOYC is celebrated nationally by the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) associations during the month of April. The HAEYC Annual Meeting honors newly NAEYC accredited centers, Child Development Associate recipients, and other special guests; every two years, the HAEYC Executive Board is re-elected.

HAEYC publishes HAEYC News, which is a most valuable tool for communication with members. This newsletter provides information regarding regional, state, and national conferences, upcoming workshops and special program events, employment opportunities, available resources, and new important legislation.
