The Child Care Director is a key member of the East Hartford YMCA branch team focused on supporting mission and child care programming needs of the East Hartford YMCA. The position requires a high energy individual with both vision and the skills to take the YMCA to the next level and to implement that vision.

Reporting to the Senior Program Director, the Child Care Director is responsible for all aspects of the Child Care Department, staff supervision, curriculum implementation, budget development, accreditation and grant reporting, and working with volunteer committees.

The Child Care Director is responsible for the administration of all child care programs that include: three (3) NAEYC accredited Early Childhood Development Centers, four (4) School Age Child Care sites, and the School Age Vacation program. The Child Care Director will have additional responsibilities tied to reporting on multiple State and Federal Grants, involvement in Greater Hartford YMCA initiatives, YMCA and community committees, and branch team needs. The position requires a self-starter who is mission driven and organized. Supervisory responsibilities will include three Site Directors and a Full time Program Coordinator.
The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience necessary to perform the following job duties:
- Establish and sustain relationships to advance the Y’s mission
- Employee relations management
- Policy and procedures development
- Hiring and developing staff at all levels with an emphasis on Diversity and Inclusion
- NAEYC Accreditation
- Grant Management
- Supervision and delegation of staff
- Compliance with and interpreting DPH Child Care Statutes and Regulations
Job qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in the field, Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood or related field required, with Masters in Early Childhood or Human Development is preferred. Candidate must have excellent communication skills & computer skills

Salary: $33,461-37,500 - commensurate with experience
